Blue Moon (8.25″ x 10″)

Gouache on Paper

This sweet dog is totally looking at the blue moon. The one I missed last Friday. I was so excited about it, talked about it, then completely forgot about it. I was bummed. I did see the moon the night before it would have been the official blue moon and it could have qualified for the real thing so I guess I don’t feel too deprived. And really, if we didn’t have a system of days, months, seasons and years there wouldn’t be any blue moons. They would just be the next full moon, no big deal. Well not no big deal because who doesn’t love the moon, blue or normal? I bet there isn’t one person on this planet who doesn’t love the moon.

The next important moon event is the harvest moon (September 29) which is the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox.

Cuba (7.75″ x 9″) — SOLD

Cuba? Is that you? No, it’s not Cuba (my friend’s dog) but it sure looks like him. Here is #2 in the “dog” series. I’m surprised I can even paint I am so delirious. I am taking a class that I have to get up at 5am for and my circadian rhythm is toast. I am usually up at 7 or 8, so 5 is down right insane. If I’m up at that hour I shouldn’t be taking a class I should be out feeding the cows. It’s a good thing it’s a physical class and not a mental class because that would have been a complete waste of money. I suppose knowing that I can paint when I am delirious is a good thing. So when I start to lose it in old age, I know I can still paint and maybe show my work for spare change on a street corner. Or better yet a rad New York City gallery will pick up the crazy woman’s work and sell it for mountains of money. Then when I die, I will have tons of money to leave to my friends and family and (my favorite) complete strangers.

Tentative (11″ x 7.25″)

The ears are tentative. I’m thinking this is a greyhound and aren’t their ears always a little tentative? Working on starting a “dog” series. It breaks my heart when I see these dogs racing. Maybe they like it but, I have a hard time watching it. My sister and brother-in-law had a greyhound mix named “Mohave” and she was the most beautiful, independent and sweet dog. Very stealth. Pure black goodness.
